The « Silver Swan »-themed Giles Spring/Summer 2012 Show was influenced by Cecil Beaton’s photographs of « society swans », by his 1925 portrait of his sister Baba, titled « A Symphony in Silver », and by Andy Warhol’s « Silver Clouds ».
Other Cecil Beaton-inspired collections : Acne Studios Spring/Summer 2013 (for this capsule collection, Jonny Johansson revisited a « Vogue » cover through Cecil Beaton’s lens), Burberry Prorsum by Christopher Bailey Spring/Summer 2007 (this show paid homage to Cecil Beaton’s seductive and strong early ’20s portraits), Dior by John Galliano Couture Autumn/Winter 2005-2006 (the « debutante » section of this collection was influenced by Cecil Beaton and Princess Margaret), Erin Fetherston Resort 2009 (the groupings of girls in pastel evening looks were based on Cecil Beaton’s photographs), Nina Ricci by Peter Copping Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 (Cecil Beaton’s portraits of debutantes in Charles James’ dresses were pinned on the mood board of this show), Roberto Cavalli by Daniele Cavalli Spring/Summer 2013 Menswear (this collection exuded a new glam by referencing the old glamour of Cecil Beaton’s photographic œuvre), Thakoon Spring/Summer 2005 (Cecil Beaton’s 1948 shot of Charles James’ evening gowns, for « Vogue », was the starting point of this show), Zac Posen Resort 2011 (to describe this collection, Zac Posen told STYLE.com that it was « Cecil Beaton meets Cicciolina »).
